iPod state of mind: mushaboom by feist...
...which i have to admit i only dissed because of the title and the song's lack of comprehensible lyrics. then again, if you weigh the options - incomprehensible lyrics or grating (or lack of) singing voice? as i am more of a melody person than a lyrics person, the answer is obvious. otherwise, it encouraged me to glue my eyes to the lacoste commercial with the beautiful boy leaping from pole to pole, in what could come straight out of a gap catalogue.
i also remember mushaboom because of durga who really, really loves feist. durga, alam mo naman ang nagiging sorry fate ng mga female singer-songwriters (i will assume that she wrote mushaboom, which makes it even worse) na may mala-one-hit-wonder. but yes, let's see how she does the festival/concert circuits in the next two or three years.
my mental to-do list is hounding me even in this predictably hot sunday afternoon. the item that is screaming for attention is that wednesday deadline for that journal article. (remember b'ducky, this was what did you in in the first place? ha!) as usual, i managed to make headway with the little errands which could have been attended to several days after. volume speak here, i guess.
hindi ko nanaman maintindihan ang gustong sabihin ni zarathustra. oo nga pala, kung binabasa mo ito, i'm sure nakita mo yung php 200 na birth of tragedy ni nietzsche sa as walk bookstore. tagal kong tiningnan pero inayawan ko rin. tipid na tayo these days e. i was equally tempted with the anouilh vol 1 which contains antigone. php 150 lang ata. perfect as a gift. then i thought pabayaan mo silang mahanap ito. kung makita nila, it was meant to be. (yar.)
on the other hand, karamihan sa kanila mga sophomores nung kinuha ang eng 4 sa akin so understandable na whatever ang ibigay sa kanilang libro na medyo magustuhan nila (o nabuwisit sila for that matter) e okay na sa kanila yun. but if i were to be asked, i'd rather that they pick antigone over if on a winter's night a traveler if only because i now realize moral choices have more weight for people their age than literary experimentation. then again, the urge - even the duty - of living to tell the tale is as great a part of our impetus as human beings as the choices we make that determine the tipping scale between life and death, happiness and compromise.
