i actually googled 'mandy moore' a while ago.

she was the subject of a conversation with t. as we were scouring through the shelves at the well-stocked fully booked at bonifacio high street. her song 'extraordinary' was the select pipe-in music. i went into gush mode as i told her i actually liked the song and the video. she instantly extracted an already-forgotten exchange of words back during the dorm days when i immediately balked at her preference for her earlier songs 'candy' and 'i wanna be with you.'

let's admit it, they were really sugary.

but this song, and that album, it holds much promise, i can tell. hell, fully booked is playing it. and true enough it does have promise - mandy moore is touring with paula cole and rachel yamagata.

back to that trip to the bookstore. i wasn't too excited like when i was excited to be at strand bookstore but this one is nevertheless a treasure.

specials:
* the two swivel displays of routledge books, featuring some of their thinking in action series and a lot of their 'elements' series (i don't know if that has a title). i certainly wanted to go down on my knees and weep.
* the singularity of literature by derek attridge. i am seriously rethinking my intended disciplinary defection.
* for the first time, i actually espy part two of goethe's faust. (for some reason, it's only part one that's always in bargain book haunts.)
* in connection with item three, a lot of penguin classics titles i rarely see in other bookstores.

in other non-fully-booked items:
* finally had a taste of cupcakes by sonja, particularly the carrot cake variety. very dense, lots of carrot shreds, cream cheese luv. of course, with adequate coffee.
* that rock 'art' with water features (or as t. calls it, that spider, to which i add 'with three legs') is rather disturbing.
* spending an afternoon with t. and her parents is always a nice treat to look forward to. fantastic people.

now i'm back in the xavierville house, looking all deflated, probably tired from that anti-climactic morning exam. my dreams are telling me what i am dead certain will happen.

yesterday was also a day of celebration for i've worked on the last impediment to all these. until this afternoon, i am still being hounded but when the letter arrives to its rightful owner, i have completed my task. i have nothing more to say.
