i am guessing many of those who depend on blogger/blogspot to host their online journals are a little peeved with this whole new business about signing up for the new blogger c/o google.

at first, the announcement felt like an invitation, a gentle cajoling to try something new with blogger, to which the default response would be to ignore it altogether. so i continued to click on the link leading me to the 'old blogger,' as if it's supposed to make me feel as if i'm such a jurassic person not to try the new features of the 'new blogger.'

as with any technological anything, i am willing to work with what the technology gives me. i wouldn't realize that there is something better out there - and consequently, that what i have is sub-par to begin with - until the 'new' is suggestively place alongside the 'old.'

i am guessing that many people are of the same mindset as i because one day, i found myself doing the same routine - clicking 'old blogger,' typing my login and password, then clicking on 'new post,' which leads me to where i'm typing this now. suddenly, i couldn't proceed to 'dashboard' and before i knew it i was in a back-and-forth situation which presented itself with the unspoken singular option - sign up for the 'new blogger' missy or you'll be reduced to posting on your tagboard.

first, there's the requirement of using your most-used e-mail address as your username. now, i'm not prissy or anything (maybe with security guards at the lrt 2 station who pull me back up for inspection by tugging at the strap of my backpack, but that's an anecdote i'll reserve for later when i'm reaally in a good mood to tell a story) but i don't like to mix my yahoos with my bloggers. yes, i have a bad memory and so i use the same password for almost anything that requires a password but i keep everything separate.

and so when i see my yahoo address prominent in the right-hand corner of this window, it doesn't sit right with me. what its presence reminds me is that i had to sign up for the 'new blogger' because google/blogger is such an immature six-year-old who'll hold his breath until he turns blue unless i give him the lollipop.

so there, google. it's not enough that you co-opted blogger. you had to coerce me to sign up for the 'new blogger' (which is really 'google/blogger-haha-so-who's-the-daddy-now?' when translated). and are there really major improvements? where's the improvement in 'labels'? now i have to be inventive with that too. at least chuvaness was quite inventive with that - she displayed all the labels for her posts on the left-hand margin of her blog. now it's like a map of everything she's posted on and nothing is repeated. a very visual approach to 'archives.'

and now, for an important bathroom break.

Haha this is a really funny post. As in. Especially the analogy of google/blogger being a six year old who wants a lollipop. Nice =p
