Friday top five hits
1. Dave Coulier is revealed to be the subject of Alanis Morissette's breakthrough hit "You Oughtta Know." Of course, in the landscape that is 90's music, this falls somewhere between early 90's grunge and late 90's pop backlash led by Ms Britney Spears. As for Dave Coulier, my reaction to that is somewhere between "Ho-hum" and "Meow."
At least it completes the "Guess who?" game for Alanis' songs. (Case in point: former producer and lover Glen Ballard being the subject of "Hands Clean.")
2. I am this close to getting sick and tired of Michael Phelps standing in the gold medal podium with his awkward grin. Meanwhile, I am a big fan of the Aussie women's swimming team. Go Libby Trickett! Go Jessicah Schipper! Go Stephanie Rice (aka Sharmaine Arnaiz look-a-like)!
Best moment from this morning's swimming finals: the results of the 100m women's freestyle, with Britta Steffen getting the gold and Libby Trickett settling for the silver (but the girl was evidently still thrilled), while Natalie Coughlin (who's more concerned with the neatness of the medal ribbon around her jacket collar than anything else) came to third.
3. Tatay won Php 4,000 from the 2-digit lotto draw last night.
4. Happy to have discovered Arjun Appadurai's personal website this afternoon.
5. Drenched, drenched, retrieving my ATM card and weaving my way back home, crossing my fingers there's no second tornado hitting LB.
Happy weekend!
