wednesday, as how it transpired

so it's thursday, after learning that the advisory marks due monday will not entail me nitpicking with their raw scores. translation: look at their writing and their faces - do they make your blood boil or do you just want to talk to the the whole period? hee.

i managed to catch the elimination episode of rockstar supernova. yes, i have my comments on the show and the band involved. gilbey clark? come on. o sige na, jason newsted, respect na rin. tommy lee? wala e, kinasal na si pam anderson so kailangan na ng buzz. (bad.)

of course, they have to make a palatable narrative running through each episode and some of them are just really obvious - magnus' family to be flown to california, zayra being retained so the band could have something to pick on (and a reason for viewers to cover their eyes).

there are some contestants i look forward to each week. storm large is three-fourths lindsay lohan, one-fourth geri halliwell (aka ginger spice). her voice just comes from a really special place (and it's not her ass). ryan star's performances are reliable. (oh alright, the puppy dog meets david blaine look gets me everytime.) and yes, dilana scares the shit out of everyone in the xavierville house watching. ika nga ni tommy lee: dilana, i wanna...

of course segue lang ang rockstar supernova story.

i finally met with janice's friend melay who is in need of a singer. her band has gone through several and from what janice tells me, some of them have been rather disappointing. one singer was promising - until the other band she sings with signed up with a major label.

after getting lost in ortigas, i arrived in a huff so it wasn't until we moved to one of the cheap eats at pearl drive that melay and i got to talking about song preferences. first on the list is indigo girls, a very obvious choice. least complicated is a favorite of hers. perfect, i said. i used to sing back-up vocals for that song in durga's band mamajammas (plug: a lb night at big sky mind on the 19th featuring a reunion of mamajammas and other bands with lb alumni - sundown muse, hemp republic and datu's tribe). 10,000 maniacs? check. basta these are days and like the weather. puwede kayang hey jack kerouac?

of course we laughed about my initial hesitation when janice mentioned that melay plays alternative and acoustic. first thought: oh. mymp, perhaps? janice, probably sensing my delayed response, followed up the message with she doesn't play mymp. and yes, she does the cure. (sigh of relief.)

oh, who am i kidding? even if we sing yet another cover of waiting in vain, i really don't mind. i sorely miss singing. and if melay can play a mean guitar, she could sign me up anytime.

which brings me to another thought: durga is coming this sunday! man! you have every reason to have your ins interview postponed. hahaha.

see you on thursday, love.
