I was supposed to type something about my long-overdue confession to my ENG 107 class that the one thing I wanted to do with the department syllabus was to throw it to the garbage can. Not that it was a lot of hooey, but as I told them: 'The idea of a survey class such as what the syllabus suggests doesn't sing to me." Ironically, it was the remark of a colleague (who got the class that I wanted to teach in the first place) that gave me permission to come clean with the already bewildered students, wondering how this unstructured excuse of a class will eventually end.

There, I don't need to type something long-winded. It felt good that I wasn't pretending anymore. Gee, I feel like an AA-type who has to apologize to all the people hurt during earlier wayward days.

Speaking of long-winded, I got one (a comment, that is) from my recent post which, to my recollection, was the shortest entry I've ever made. My feeling is that the comment, two paragraphs long, was culled from a website and I have a pretty good idea what kind of website that may be.

Anyways, the comment was well appreciated. Thank you, Anonymous, and it would serve you well if you identify yourself.
