smorgasboard

1. first day of having a motherless house. that would have the equivalent of a bus running without a steering wheel but with a gps. no minor fires to put out, father and daughter fat from eating practically meat and potatoes (aka mechado), very hardy food.

2. since i'm back in front of my laptop, i am once again dependent on the koala wrist stand given to me by pooching. reminded of the other cute and useful objects i have, i'll add the writers' tumbler from joffin as well as the ladybug clothespins (which can't hold actual clothes) from ikea.

3. speaking of objects, i've started (for the second time) baudrillard's the system of objects. considering many of his books, this one is a very tolerable read. it was even made more palatable when i jumped to the conclusion, ha! feel like a kid reading an agatha christie novel and jumping to the last chapter for the big whodunit? this is the follow-up book to the bhagavad gita, which i finished after new year's. i know it is a staple in world lit classes but seriously, people, the mandatory age for reading it should be thirty-five and don't ask me why.

4. did etc 2nd avenue yank ellen off its 8 pm timeslot?

5. madonna was on david letterman to promote arthur and the invisibles. they're right, she does have that queer smudge of an english accent.

6. hope the mother had a great day.
