november 27: nerves frayed, thoughts in transit

In the middle of a severe caffeine high, an even greater high of actually staying on my butt (except for bathroom breaks, ordering the coffee and playing free cell) and the delight of watching the first episode of project runway season three, I suddenly thought of the following question: if you were an element of fiction, what would you be? Which could have the more comprehensible version of what is your favorite element of fiction?

I actually thought of the answer before I thought of the question (right now I am typing like mad because house is starting in a few minutes and I have to make myself a glass of milk to just maybe, just a little bit, diffuse this godawful yet wonderful caffeine high, whose eventual crash I am fearing just a bit.

Why did I suddenly think of point of view? Well, ever since I tinkered with that thing called narrative theory, and one of the things it highlights is point of view. Just finishing ‘the road to project runway,’ I heard a lot of ‘who are you as a designer?’ never heard so much hoopla, never seen a premium placed on identity, personality. Thank god if you had a personality that was sellable.

Well, I think point of view is powerful. It could also be lethal.

well, if one wants to sell his personality, or at least have a sellable one, he can always repackage it for the market's taste right? hay nako, lintek talaga yang usapin tungkol sa personality na yan. harampf.
