thought i'd never get this far with blogger tonight. seems as if it has other plans in store.

now i forgot what i was supposed to type in the first place.

what i do remember is forsaking everything since yesterday to remind myself why i love marquez's love in the time of cholera more than one hundred years of solitude.

now i remember why.

tips on how to read love... :

one, do read it in a public place, not because you want other people to see that you are reading ggm (let alone reading at all), but to minimize possibility of bawling your eyes out early on in the book. which leads me to

two, do not read it while typecast is playing, particular the song clutching, which, with the fatal combination of reading it alone in your room, will conjure, revive, remind you of anything remotely familiar to the hopelessly hopeless Florentino Ariza and Fermina Daza. speaking of typecast (not outkast), the cd is probably annoying the hell out of my folks, who may now be wondering if the newest cd of their kid contains only one song. unfortunately, f! did confirm that it will take a while before the spell is broken.

three, do check out the rest of the red classic series (of which love... is a part of) brought to you by penguin books. only php 229, which in any language is a steal. shoulda bought lolita and alice's adventures in wonderland. eejit. thinking too much of credit card bills.

four, do practice self-restraint in reading especially if students' papers are piling up on your desk.

five, in true blue U fashion (shameless plug: sa mga suso ng liwanag by u.z. eliserio, out now! only php 200! where? i'm not sure. ah, FC 3007, if you're in up diliman), there is no number five.

six, do read love... even when you're falling out of love (which to me is quite bogus because one never falls out of love, love remains but the people involved just can't stand each other. two different things, methinks.)

seven, do read love... especially if you're in the throes of mad, mad love. that way you can just combust (!) your way to march, fire prevention month.

eight, do read love... . if one hundred years of solitude was hailed as required reading for every human being, then love in the time of cholera could probably be considered as a treatise on martyrdom, haha. but seriously

nine, do read love... because it could probably be considered as a treatise on survival. and breathlessness. and desperation. and hope.

ten, do read love... because every little detail of delirium, shit and second chances remind us that we are, despite everything, alive.
