Dear U,

I better figure out if I'd just e-mail you or still address you in this blog.

I'll do both for now.

Pastime of the moment - watching the post-election reportage on the cable networks (ANC not included, oki?) Suweet interruption: a live recording of Pearl Jam's Black (from their Tokyo, Japan release - I think there are 15 or so of these live recordings from various stops in their tour). Alright, let's not include FOX in this because they're just so sickeningly jubilant about the Bush victory (let's dispense with the 'Fair and Balanced' tag, shall we?) Post-election mentions range from Americans wanting to move to Canada to where the Democrats go wrong to how Karl Rove skillfully tapped the supposed 4 million evangelical Americans who didn't vote in 2000 to vote this time around by concentrating the campaign on moral values. Of course we all know what that means - no to gay marriage and stem cell research, among others.

And yeah, where was the youth vote? Were they too wasted to vote on Nov 2? So much for Rock the Vote, Drew Barrymore and P. Diddy.

I figure the rest of the world (alright, mainly Western Europe and the Arab world) is still experiencing a collective lockjaw from Bush's victory and really think Americans are just apathetic little shits. Or is it America that's wondering why the rest of the world is fussing over the results of their little election?

Lordy, where do we begin?

As like you, I've been wearing black (or dark blue) these days. A very good time to wear your 'Good Bush, Bad Bush' t-shirt.

Meanwhile, I'm finishing this post while tripping to Jane's Addiction.

A.
